A round of appointments has been made in the Israel Defense Force general command.
The IDF chief of staff has promoted Shlomo Yana’i to the rank of major general and appointed him head of the army’s southern command.
Yana’i replaces Maj. Gen. Shaul Mofaz, who will take up his new duties next month as head of the IDF planning branch.
The current planning branch head, Maj. Gen. Uzi Dayan, will become the head of the IDF central command, replacing Maj. Gen. llan Biran, who is leaving the service.
