An Israel Defense Force patrol killed five terrorists in Lebanon last night and captured an undisclosed number, a military spokesman reported today. The terrorists were identified as members of Ahmed Jibril’s Damascus-based Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command and were believed to have been planning an operation against Israel.
They were discovered by the patrol several miles from Hatzbaya, at the southern end of the Bekaa Valley, just east of the south Lebanon security zone. Weapons found on the terrorists or cached in nearby caves included Kalachnikov assault rifles and ammunition, rocket-propelled grenade launchers, anti-tank mines, mortars, grenades, explosives, protective vests and gas masks.
