“If I were in Golda Meir’s place I wouldn’t return any of the occupied territories without suitable guarantees or something concrete in exchange.” This view was expressed here Saturday by Heinrich Boell, the West German novelist who last month won the Nobel Literature Prize. Boell and his wife were visiting Kibbutz Nehemia where their son, Vincent, served as a volunteer for six months. Boell, recently intervened with Soviet authorities on behalf of David and Esther Markish, the son and widow of the late Soviet Jewish poet Peretz Markish who was a victim of the Stalin purges in 1952. Last week the Markishes received a visa to emigrate to Israel.
