The West German Supreme Court yesterday rejected an appeal by Ilse Koch, known as the “Witch of Buchenwald,” from a sentence of life imprisonment for crimes she committed against inmates of the Buchenwald concentration camp. As the mistress of the camp she ordered inmates executed in order to use their tatooed skins for lamp shades and book marks. The notorious prisoner is now serving her sentence at the Bavarian women’s prison in Aichbach.
