About sixty Jewish immigrants who have been squatting for 48 hours on the pavement of one of Tel Aviv’s main streets began a hunger strike today demanding permanent housing, the London Daily Express reports today in a cable from Tel Aviv.

The Jewish Agency today announced a new policy with regard to housing of new immigrants. Henceforth, immigrants under 35 years of age will get housing only in settlements and in development areas. This decision was taken in view of the need for developing new areas in various parts of the country.
