The new immigration inspection law of Canada is in operation since the first of the year. Immigrants to Canada are examined by Canadian doctors in the nearest large city or seaport, free of charge, and if fit are allowed to book passage. This new law does not do away with medical inspection at Quebec, the port of entry, but there is less chance of the immigrant being turned down. Immigration inspectors have also been sent to England by the Federal Government to examine intending settlers as to their ##ess in other ways.
