The 932 refugees in Fort Ontario will start on the path to American citizenship on Monday, it was learned today. Interviews by agents of the Immigration, State and Justice Departments will begin then.
Some time later this month, the refugees will be taken to Canada, a short distance from here, where they will file formal requests for immigration into the United States, and will then be allowed to enter. The legal procedures will be facilitated in accordance with President Truman’s recent order making the Oswego internees eligible to apply for American citizenship.
