Assurances that there will not be any restriction or regulation of immigration to Israel were given here today by Berl Locker, chairman of the Jewish Agency executive, addressing a session of the European conference of the Labor Zionist Organization, Joseph Sprinzak, Speaker of the Israel parliament, was among the principal speakers at the parley’s opening session.
Reviewing the achievements of Israel since its its inception, Mr. Locker emphasized the need for maintaining a “flow of immigration to Israel” and of providing funds for the absorption of the new arrivals in the Jewish state. He called on Jews living outside Israel “not to rely on the Jews of Israel alone” and said that “without additional immigration to Israel, the danger of assimilation of Jewish communities in the West would increase.” The conference will review problems to be presented to the World Zionist Congress, scheduled for December of this year in Jerusalem.
