An agreement for a study of the impact of American surplus food shipments on Israel agriculture was signed here today by the Bank of Israel and Murat Williams, the American Charge d’Affaires, on behalf of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The United States is contributing $50,000 toward the cost of the study which will be made by the Bank of Israel and which will be the first of its kind ordered abroad by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The study will investigate the influence of the American food surpluses on Israeli price and nutrition levels and on the development of Israel’s agriculture and industry. Other aspects of the study will deal with the impact of the surpluses on foreign trade and the influence of Israeli counterpart funds on development projects financed by such funds.
