Important decisions with regard to Palestine will be made shortly, it was predicted here today by Lord Strabolgi, pro-Zionist peer. He emphasized that Britain may be compelled to use force again in Palestine “as in the past.”
Addressing a meeting of the Cambridge University Society for International Affairs, Lord Strabolgi charged the British and American governments with showing insufficient generosity and understanding for the French Committee of National Liberation. He declared that he would like to see appeasement in the direction of the French rather than of the Arabs “who have displayed no active help in the Allied war effort.”
“Very important decisions,” he said, “will be made shortly in Palestine where appeasement of the Arabs failed. Britain had to use force in Palestine in the past and might have to do the same again.”
