Impressive funeral services were held here today at the Naan collective settlement for Menahem Mendel Rosenbaum, veteran Labor Zionist, who played an important part in the revolutionary movement in Czarist Russia and was, as one of the leaders of the Social Revolutionary Party, arrested in 1898 and held in the notorious Petro-Pavel Fortress in St. Petersburg.
Born in 1870 in the township of Pletchenits, Neam Minsk, Rosenbaum studied for the rabbinate. He came to the United States in 1905 and became active in the Jewish Socialist movement here, later becoming one of the active Labor Zionist leaders in this country. He settled in Israel after the establishment of the Jewish State, becoming a member of the Naan collective settlement.
