Four Jewish workeras, two of whom are girls, were sentenced to two months jail for resisting the police following a clash between Hebraists and Yiddishists on the last day of Succoth. The clash occurred when a meeting at the Poale Zion Club in celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Czernowitz conference where Yiddish was proclaimed a Jewish national language, was stormed by Hebrew zealots.
A demonstration staged the following day by Jewish workers was dispersed by the police. It was during this demonstration that the workers resisted the police.
