In a fighting attack on dictatorships which “openly glory” in treaty violations, Former Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden tonight condemned as “unthinkable” any attempt to cede colonies to Germany at the present time and hailed as a “safeguard of civilization” the public reaction in Britain and the United States to Reich persecution of the Jews. Capt. Eden told a meeting of the League of Nations Union here that attempts at appeasement are futile “where one of the parties, by its treatment of a section of its own population, denies all previous conceptions of progress and civilization.”
