In letters sent to top city officials and members of the City Council, the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC) is urging immediate action on an anti-Arab boycott bill first introduced more than six months ago. The intent of the proposed measure, according to Jack Elkin, chairman of the JCRC’s committee on Arab boycott, is to bar the city agencies from doing business with companies that participate in the Arab boycott and would supplement recently enacted federal legislation. Hearings on an initial draft were held last August in the Council’s Committee on Economic Development.
