Jewish religious education will be the theme of the annual meeting of the New Jersey Section of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations at Temple Sharey Tefilo here on Sunday, April 8. Delegates from reform congregations in all parts of the state as well as representatives of sisterhoods and brotherhoods will participate in the all-day sessions, which are being sponsored by the Northeast Religious Union of the U.A.H.C.
Jacob L. Newman, of Newark, chairman of the New Jersey Section, and Henry Kanegsberg, president of the Temple Sharey Tefilo, will welcome the delegates. The morning session will be devoted to the symposium on “The Present Day Challenge of Jewish Education.”
Symposium speakers will include Rabbi Solomon Foster of Temple B’nai Jeshurun, Newark; Rabbi Max Raisin, of Barnet Memorial Temple, in Paterson; Mrs. Jeannette Pearlman of Trenton; Joseph Steiner of Newark and Mrs. Jacob Schaffer, of West Orange.
Maurice Pereles, vice-president of the local temple, and Dr. Isaac Landman, rabbi of Temple Beth Elohim, Brooklyn, and editor of the “American Hebrew,” will speak at the afternoon session.
