“In view of the renewed anti-Jewish excesses in Oradeomare, Cluj, and other places in Roumania, exceeding the previous outbreaks against Jews in that country, this meeting of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies, on behalf of South African Jewry, respectfully urges the Union Government to make representations as it may deem suitable, either to the British Government or to the League of Nations, with a view to influencing the Roumanian Government to make, without loss of time, a comprehensive effort to deal radically with this evil, and so remedy the legitimate grievances of the Jewish Minority in Roumania, in accordance with its solemn treaty obligations.”
This resolution was adopted by the meeting of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies held here this morning.
