(Jewish Telegraphic Agency)
To meet the needs of the Musical Department of the Jewish National and University Library, a gift of $1,000 was made by Mrs. Leonie K. Guinzberg of New York.
The Library has felt for some time the lack of an adequate collection of books dealing with the history of music, especially Jewish music, the history of music in Bible times, the history of Chazanuth, a collection of the music of famous Chazanim, the collection of folk-songs and works on folksongs generally, as well as the music of other Oriental peoples.
JTA has documented Jewish history in real-time for over a century. Keep our journalism strong by joining us in supporting independent, award-winning reporting.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
