Harsh criticism against English rule in Palestine and the Moslem countries generally were uttered by Mohamed Ali, Indian Moslem leader, who is on a visit here at the invitation of the Moslem Supreme Council.
The Indian leader, who was admitted to the country after the intervention of the Moslem Council, was the guest of honor at a reception given last night by the council. The Mufti welcomed him officially.
“Not the Jews are our enemies, but British Imperialism which aims to seize all Moslem lands,” declared Mohamed Ali, whose arrival here was connected with the Arab-Jewish controversy over the Wailing Wall. “Great Britain rules Palestine not for the sake of the Arabs nor for the sake of the Jews, but for her own interest,” he declared in a two hour address on political and religious questions.
“The Koran, the Old Testament, as well as the New Testament, aim at the same thing: to reform our character,” he stated in discussing the religious issue. Moslems should send their youth to study in the European universities, but adopting Western civilization, they must always keep their own culture and traditions,” he declared.
