The Indiana Jewish Community Council at its semi-annual meeting here voted to oppose a bill slated to come before the State legislature that would regulate the slaughter of meat animals. Delegates voiced opposition to the so called “humane” slaughter bill “unless it defined kosher slaughter as humane.”
Opposition was also voted to a measure that would extend the State school bus bill by providing public bus transportation to pupils of non-public schools. The bill was described in a council resolution as “an invasion of the First Amendment guarantee of separation of church and state.”
