Indications of the presence of oil in Palestine were found in the village Sakia near Jaffa.
The discovery, which was made when a well 150 meters deep was dug in an orange grove in the village, was confirmed by experts. The grove belongs to an Arab, Michael Beiruei.
Borings effected previously showed traces of oil in the region of the Dead Sea.
Harry Hershfield was re-elected President of the Cheese Club, an organization of theatrical and newspaper men. Benjamin F. Holzman was elected Second Vice President and Lewis Levenson, Secretary.
Among the passengers who sailed last night on the steamer Majestic for Europe were Mr. Bernard M. Baruch and Bernard M. Baruch, Jr. Judge and Mrs. A. K. Cohen, Samuel D. Lit, and Nathan Lamport.
