Indignation ran high at City College yesterday when members of the Avukah-Menorah society of the college found their sign reading ???Boycott German Goods??? lying in shreds in front of the Menorah alcove.
Members of the menorah society immediately circularized a petition addressed to President Frederick B. Robinson requesting him to use his influence to see that no more German goods are bought by the science departments of the college on the door of the alcove. A careful watch was kept over the petition to prevent its being destroyed.
Student enthusiasm for the boycott was somewhat dampened by the refusal of the Catholic New-man Club and the College Y. M. C. A. to cooperate with the Jewish club.
It was learned yesterday that the Student Council sent a letter to the Board of Higher Education asking it to prohibit the College cooperative store from purchasing German-made goods. No reply has been received so far.
