Indonesian officials honored the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee for its tsunami relief efforts. The awards were given by the mayor of Banda Aceh and a regional official to JDC in a ceremony Monday. The JDC has spent $2 million so far in Indonesia on efforts such as upgrading refugee camps and increasing and improving the water supply for victims of the December 2004 tsunami in mostly Muslim Indonesia, which was the country hardest hit by the tidal wave.
