Ambassador Monnet Davis who arrived here as the new American diplomatic representative to Israel, was today unable to present his credentials to President Chaim Weizmann due to an attack of influenza. The scheduled presentation was cancelled at the last minute.

The sudden illness may also prevent Mr. Davis from attending a conference of chiefs of the United States diplomatic missions in the Middle East which opens this week in Istanbul, Turkey, it was indicated by embassy officials.

Ivar Lunde, Norway’s first Minster to Israel, arrived here today. He will present his credentials to Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett tomorrow.
