Once a Jewish state is established, and large-scale immigration into Palestine starts, it will have to be on a selective basis in the beginning, Dr. Chaim Hoffman, Jewish Agency director in Germany, today told the second annual Agency conference here.
Dr. Hoffman called for an expanded program of training to prepare prospective imigrants for settlement. Joshua Levy, the Agency representative on the Combined ##ployment Board, which consists of representatives of the Agency, the JDC and the ##al Committee of Liberated Jews, reported that 2,500 Jewish DP’s are now employed ## work projects and that thousands of others are clamoring for employment. Expansion of the projects, he explained, is being held up by lack of machinery and short## ials.
