A synagogue quarrel reached its climax before Judge Romer when the court granted an injunction restraining Aaron Gold, Isaac Becker and other members of the Board of Management of the German synagogue. Spital Square, East End, from interfering with the synagogue activities.
Gold, Becker and a few others had announced a meeting of the synagogue for July 15. The President, Jacob Berliner, prohibited the meeting and notified the police. The Board members thereupon forced the door of the synagogue and are believed to have also removed the marriage register.
In issuing the injunction, Judge Romer severely rebuked the members for their squabbles in a house of worship.
