The Institute for Religious Studies at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, opened its sixth year today, It is conducted by the Seminary in cooperation with Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant scholars, for the purpose of making the ministers of each faith acquainted with the basic principles of all religions of democratic lands, and to stress especially the relation of the religious tradition to democracy.
The Institute was founded six years ago through a gift of Lucius N, Littauer. During the course of its existence it has been attended by more than 800 clergymen of all faiths, and has gained recognition as one of the world’s foremost? institutions devoted to interfaith relations.
