The Government of Palestine has issued a statement regarding the uprising in Transjordania, declaring the tribesmen have been dispersed after thirty of their number were killed by the Government forces, whose “casualties” amounted to one slightly wounded. The statement follows:
“Unrest and dissatisfaction which for some time existed in the southern section among the Adwaan tribe culminated on Sunday by a force of tribesmen cutting the road and telephone communication between Es Salt and Amman, holding up traffic throughout Transjordania.
“The Government immediately took steps to deal with the situation. It dispatched a force to the spot. The tribesmen were dispersed after thirty of their number had been killed. The Government casualties amount to one slightly wounded.”
