The Inter-Allied Committee here representing the governments of the United Nations is now following up the Allied declaration on the Nazi massacres of Jews in Europe by consulting eminent jurists on the appropriate form of judicial procedure with regard to the punishment of the perpetrators of the crimes, it was learned here today.
It is understood that the Governments-in-Exile are encountering no difficulty in compiling the lists of the Nazi criminals in the occupied countries, because they are known in their respective localities to the underground movement there.
The Archbishop of York today denounced “the murder of the Polish nation and the deliberate extermination of the Jews in Europe now being perpetrated” as the “greatest crime in history,” the British radio reported. The Anglican church leader added further: “We might now look upon our people and our allies as united in a crusade to deliver our fellow men from a sub-human barbarism, which, if victorious, would destroy all that was of value in human nature.”
The Polish National Council at its session today passed a resolution expressing gratification over the Allied declaration on the Nazi massacres of Jews and over the reaction to this declaration in both houses of the British Parliament. The Chinese Government, in a cabled message to the Polish Government here, expressed China’s horror at the Nazi barbarities against the civilian population in Poland and emphasized its compete agreement with the declaration of the Allied Nations.
