George V, McLaughlin, former Police Commissioner, will serve as honorary chairman of an interdenominational committee of Coney Island business men which will aid the $250,000 drive of the Jewish Community Center of Coney Island. Announcement of Mr. McLaughlin’s acceptance of the post was made at a luncheon given at the Half Moon Hotel by William J. Ward, former President of the Bank of Coney Island, who is Chairman of this committee.
Contributions totaling $20,000 have already been obtained by this interdenominational committee, and a gift of $1,500 was made by Mr. McLaughlin.
The campaign will be officially launched next Sunday. It will continue for ten days. Pledges and gifts totaling $52,180 have been raised to date. Leon S. Kaiser is chairman of the Campaign Committee.
