A bi-partisan quartette of Senators and Representatives today demanded that the United States take the initiative “in urging our executive department to take staps for interim international action on Palestine.
Supporting identical resolutions which they introduced several weels ago in the Senate and House, Senators Charles W. Tobey, Republican of New Hampshire, Francis J. Myers, Democrat of Pennsylvania, Representatives Andrew L. Somers, Democrat of New York and Bertrand W. Gearhart, Republican of California, told a press conference in Senator Tobey’s office that the pressure of Arab chieftans is “humiliating” and without parallel in international relations. They stressed that their resolution does not advocate a “Jewish Commonwealth” but “a free and democratic state with full citizenship rights for its inhabitants without discrimination based on racial or religious factors.” It was announced that a delegation will leave for Britain shortly to present the viewpoint of the American League for a Free Palestine to the Labor Government.
