Robert Strauss, national chairman of the Carter-Mondale Re-election Campaign Committee, announced today the formation of an international steering committee of Democrats abroad that includes a group living in Israel. A press release issued by the campaign committee named the following in Israel:
Prof. Harold Wilkenfeld, Dr. Miron Sheskin and Sylvia Shapiro, all of Jerusalem; and William Wexler of Herzliya. Wilkenfeld was identified as chairman of the group and Sheskin as honorary chairman. Wexler is a former president of B’nai B’rith and chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. In addition, American Jews in the United Kingdom, Belgium and Switzerland are serving on similar committees in those countries.
