The second international conference for the study of the Jewish problem in the universities will be held in Locarno, January 4th to 9th it was announced here today by Dr. Walter Kotschnig, general secretary of the International Student Service, a nonsectarian organization under whose auspices the conference will be held. The first conference was held at Bierville, France in 1928.
The International Student Service, which has undertaken a campaign to fight anti-Semitism in the universities of Europe, will sponsor a program of address treating the principles of university life with regard to the actual situation of the Jewish students, the history of the Jewish student in Europe, the Jewish student in the life of the country in which he lives and the problem of the emigre Jewish student.
Among the patrons of the International Student Service are Thomas Masaryk, president of Czecho-Slovakia, Viscount Cecil, Dr. Albert Einstein, and Paul Painlevé.
