A fight against the traffic in slaves carried on in the Arabic countries was announced today by the British Foreign Office. A statement was issued to the effect that the British navy in the Red Sea will receive reinforcements for the purpose of suppressing the traffic, which is being carried on by Arab pirate boats in the Red Sea. The present naval force has proven inadequate to handle the situation because the numerous islands in that region afford hiding places for the pirates. The French and Italian navies will co-operate with the British.
