Amsterdam will be the scene of a series of meetings of top Jewish leaders in January and February, it was indicated here by Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress, addressing a meeting of the North American executive of the organization.
Dr. Goldmann said that a plan for an international conference on Jewish education will be discussed by the Conference of Jewish Organizations which consists of major international and national Jewish bodies. Jewish leaders from the United States, Canada, Britain, France and Israel will also meet in Amsterdam for a session of the World Jewish Congress Administrative Committee.
The WJC leader outlined a program of future action by the World Jewish Congress in the international field. He reported on first steps taken to establish relations with newly-emancipated African and Asian peoples, and cooperation with the leaders of other religions.
A call for a broadened World Jewish Congress constituency, particularly in the United States, was made at a meeting by Samuel Bronfman, newly-elected chairman of the WJC’s North American executive. He emphasized the need for strengthening unity among the Jewish communities all over the globe. Mr. Bronfman, who is also the president of the Canadian Jewish Congress, said that a broader constituency would reinforce the WJC in its efforts on behalf of Jewry throughout the world.
