International “pen” Congress Includes Yiddish, Hebrew Groups

The International “Pen” Congress, which opens here tomorrow, will include in its program a visit to an exhibit of Yiddish books and newspapers, declared Sholom Asch, famous Yiddish writer who is an active participant in the Congress, in an interview here yesterday. Asch also stated that the “Pen” Congress has asked the League of Nations to give literary prizes, in which the Jewish “Pen” Club should be able to participate.

The Yiddish and Hebrew delegates are participating in the “Pen” Congress as representatives of different bodies, though they hold joint conferences. Other nations besides the Jews who are represented at the “Pen” Congress by more than one language are: Germany, two; France, three; Belgium, two, and Spain, three.
