The International Red Cross today informed Chief Rabbi Alexander Shafran here that it is considering means of assisting or protecting Jews and non-Jews currently being expelled from Budapest and other larger cities in Hungary.
The information was conveyed to Rabbi Shafran following his appeal to the Red Cross in which he stressed the gravity of the situation of the affected Jews in Hungary and asked that the organization act under the provisions of the International Red Cross Conventions. Rabbi Shafran made the appeal on behalf of the Agudas Israel World Organization of which he is a leader.
