Intourist, the Soviet state tourist service, opened its first bureau in Israel last week.
The assistant manager, Anatoly Petrushenko, was present for the opening. The Israeli daily Ma’ariv quoted him as saying that the office would promote Israeli tourism to the Soviet Union and assist tourists from the Soviet Union arriving in Israel.
Intourist already has agreements with several large tour organizers in Israel, he said.
The new office on Tel Aviv’s Allenby Road will be headed by Valery Yagorev.
