The authorities of the New York University are anxious to determine who was responsible for the placing some time Monday night of posters about the dormitory and other parts of the campus calling upon Jewish students to get out.
“Strictly Koshers are not wanted up here” was the wording on the posters. They were discovered early in the morning and were immediately torn down. Reference to them was made by Dean Archibald L. Bouton of the College of Arts and Sciences at the chapel services the same day who condemned them as “contrary to all the aims and principles of our institutions”.
Chancellor Brown refused to make any statement on the matter to the the J. C. B. representative, but university authorities said that the placing of the posters was particularly surprising at this time as feeling between Christian and Jewish students at the university had recently shown signs of improvement.
Recently, Mitchell S. Fisher, a Phi Betta Kappa Senior and president of the N. Y. U. Menorah sent a letter to the N.Y.U. Daily News in which he charged that social discrimination on a large scale is being practiced at the university. Fisher charged among other things that only Christians are allowed to attend the annual junior promenade.
