The Bavarian Parliament commission investigating the circumstances leading to, and the conduct of, the trial of the late Philip Auerbach, former head of the Bavarian Restitution Office, today resumed meeting after a three-month recess.
Dr. Karl Fischer, chairman of the commission, commented that Auerbach’s suicide following his conviction “complicated” his group’s work, but expressed the hope that the investigation could be pressed to an early conclusion. He revealed that the group had rejected a demand from a Bavarian organization of former victims of the Nazis that the commission study the political background of the trial.
