Ira Guilden, noted industrialist and Jewish communal leader, has been appointed chairman of the National Council of the Foundation for the Jewish National Fund, it was announced here today by Albert Schiff, president of the JNF of America. The Foundation for the JNF devotes itself to setting up a pool of funds through wills, bequests and insurance assignments for the purpose of establishing projects in Israel bearing the names of the donors. Since its inception six years ago, a potential of more than $12,000,000 has been mobilized through the Foundation.
Announcing Mr. Guilden’s appointment, Mr. Schiff said: “I know there are hundreds of thousands of Jews throughout the United States, who, through their wills, bequests and assignments of insurance, could link their names forever with the land of Israel. And I also know that Mr. Guilden can influence them, if anybody can. His acceptance as chairman of the National Council of the Foundation for the Jewish National Fund is a tremendous gain for our cause and the cause of Israel.”
