Iran is out to destroy Israel, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told Jewish leaders and students. “We are talking about a country that is openly demanding the annihilation of the Jewish people and the State of Israel,” Sharon said Tuesday night. He made the comments during an address to members of the Jewish federations of Greater Miami and Kansas City, and students participating in the Birthright Israel program, which offers free trips to Israel for young people around the world. Sharon spoke days after Israel seized a ship laden with weapons that Israeli officials charged had come from Iran and was bound for the Palestinian Authority. Iranian officials have denied the charge.
