A report that Iran may withdraw her recognition from Israel is published in the New York Times today. The report, cabled from Beirut, capital of Lebanon, says that A1 Misri, organ of the Wafd party and the largest news paper in Egypt, published yesterday an answer from Ayatollah Sayed Ghassena Kashani, radical Persian Islamic political and religious leader, was asked to say what he had done about an appeal made to him by the teachers of the Islamic University of A1 Azhar in Cairo to use his influence to have Iran withdraw her recognition of Israel. According to A1 Misri he answered:

“We requested the Foreign Office to withdraw the Iranian Minister from the so-called Israel capital and a decree will be issued so that you and the Islamic world will know that the Iranian Islamic people does not recognize the fraudulent Government established there to oppose Islam and disperse its sons. What we have done in regard to this fraudulent Government we regard as our duty and the duty of every Moslem toward those of us who were made homeless under the auspices of occidental policy to create a breach in Arab Islamic front to further the West’s destructive imperialistic aims.”
