An Iraq Embassy official denied allegations made in a statement by the Israel legation here last night that the Jewish minority in Iraq was being subjected to “a new wave of persecution,” Reuters reported today.
He said that the Iraq embassy in London did not consider that the Israel statement warranted any official reply, as it was only “regular Israeli propaganda.” Both the Iraq official and a British Foreign Office spokesman denied knowledge of Tel Aviv reports that Iraq had offered to exchange 100,000 Iraq Jews for an equal number of Arab refugees in Israel.
