The Iraq Government will not hinder the emigration of some 90,000 Israel-bound Jews, the Baghdad Radio declared in a broadcast monitored here today. The announcer added that the government has promised to speed up the movement of those Jews who have already registered to leave.
This report reverses last week’s announcement by the Iraq Government that emigration of Jews would end as of March 1, 1951. At that time it was feared that most of the 90,000 Jews who have registered would be in a dangerous plight because they surrendered their Iraq citizenship as a condition of registering for emigration.
