Irving M. Engel, president of the American Jewish Committee, has been appointed to a five-man Citizens Committee on Loyalty Security by Governor Averell Harriman of New York. The Committee-headed by Whitelaw Reid, board chairman of the New York Herald Tribune–will devise recommendations for revising state laws aimed at keeping subversives out of government.
