Isaac Gilbert, former president of Temple Beth El and a leader in Detroit Jewish activities for two decades, is dead here at the age of 62. He was vice-president of the Webster Cigar Company and treasurer of the Kleiner Cigar Manufacturing Company.
Born in New York City, he moved with his parents in early youth to Kalamazoo and came to Detroit in 1909. He was a former president of the B’nai B’rith district grand lodge No. 6 and a leader in the Union of American Hebrew Congregations.
