Several hundred Staten Island women, representing the Senior and Junior Hadassahs, the Staten Island section of the National Council of Jewish Women and various local synagogue sisterhoods, attended a card party held at the Staten Island Jewish Community Center, Victory boulevard, for the benefit of the refugee fund. The party was sponsored by the women’s division of the Center. Mrs. Jacob Stein was in charge of arrangements for the occasion.
The series of free outdoor art classes sponsored by the Center will be inaugurated shortly. The quota for the classes, which are open to all, has been almost reached. They will be conducted by Miss Samilla Love Jameson.
Staten Island mothers who have been reluctant, because of the facilities for outdoor sports and recreation offered right on the Island, to send their children to summer camps out of town, are displaying interest in the Home Camp sponsored this year by the Center. This is the fourth consecutive season the camp has been in operation.
