Israel has become a member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations, it was announced today at the group’s first plenary session now being held here. The announcement followed an address to the session by Daniel Auster, mayor of Jerusalem, which was warmly received. Mr. Auster came here to represent the Jewish state at the current meeting.
Mr. Auster later reviewed the role which Italy played both during the war and in the postwar period vis-a-vis Jewish displaced persons. He pointed up the cooperation existing between Israel and Italy in many fields. Mr. Auster plans to call on the Lord Mayor of Rome prior to his departure for Geneva next week where he will participate in a world-wide conference of mayors.
