Israel agreed to transfer a limited amount of weapons to help guard Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The decision by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz came earlier this week, amid growing threats on Abbas’ life. The weapons are expected to be delivered to Abbas’ presidential guard via a third party, likely Egypt or Jordan, Israeli media reported.
