Israel has agreed to release two British pilots captured when five R.A.F. planes were shot down on Jan. 7 over Israeli territory, it, as officially announced here today. The Israeli Government has asked Cyril Marriott, British consul general in Haifa, to make arrangements for the men to leave Israel immediately.
The announcement also revealed that the Israeli Government has decided to permit the United Nations to send food and medical supplies convoys to Faluja–where 2,000 Egyptians have been trapped for the past three months. The evacuation of the seriously wounded and ill from Faluja will also be permitted, the communique said. The Israeli communique announcing this action pointed out that it was being done “without prejudice to the Rhodes discussions and any future settlement.”
